Since 1970, Merlin Hotel has been a landmark for people coming in to Georgetown, Penang.
After a major renovation in 2012, we open our doors again in November 2013 and welcome guests with our new concept.
Our rooms are now newly furbish and newly decorated to ensure our guest is comfortable with their stay. The building still has its original façade as we think it’s important to maintain the feeling of the glory days of Georgetown.
However, the entire interior is equipped with modern facilities and amenities. A corner of the lobby is reserved for a mini bar or mini mart that sells snack, drinks and other additional amenities that you might need upon your stay. A common water dispenser area is available for your coffee or tea making and ironing facilities is also available at the common area. We provide a roof top space for a small get together session, suitable for a barbeque session as well.
Looking for a place to eat? Don’t worry. Our hotel is located above the famous Merlin Nasi Kandar. Since the 70’s, it has been famous for their Nasi Kandar. Just ask the locals if you don’t believe us.

The rooms are equipped with air conditioning and fan for extra coolness, coloured television with local channels, Wi-Fi connection, writing desk and clothes hanger. The bathrooms are attached with the rooms and we provide towel, shampoo and soap.
Studio Family is suitable for travellers of 3. The room comes with 1 King bed and 1 Single bed. It has air conditioner and fan, coloured television with local channels, Wi-Fi connection, writing desk and clothes hanger. The bathrooms are also attached with the rooms and we provide towel, shampoo and soap. This room is spacious enough to accommodate for 3.
For a bigger party, we provide the Super Studio. It comes with 2 King bed with large space that is suitable for children to play around. This room is suitable for family and small group. The room comes with air conditioner, fan, and coloured television with local channels, writing desk, Wi-Fi connection and clothes hanger. The bathroom is also attached and provided with towel, shampoo and soap.

When mention about Georgetown, it is not hard to remember the murals painted by Ernest Zacharevic. Lithuanian artist has been transforming the streets of Georgetown with a wonderful and attractive series of interactive murals.
These iconic, light hearted pieces have become popular across the city. Locals and tourist get a kick out of taking photos of them immersed in the scene displayed on the wall behind them. There are a number of murals have been completed, and more in the making. This was a project funded by Georgetown festival as an attraction to the streets of Georgetown.
Every mural has its own name and has a concept on its own. Most of them are scattered on the side of walls in Georgetown and some are painted on old telephone post, street pole at the side of a wooden wall and even a partially knocked down all.
